PHOENIX — Police say a 78-year-old man was killed after being struck by multiple vehicles in central Phoenix on Saturday evening.
Phoenix police have identified the victim in the incident as Jose Luz Gutierrez-Palomo.
According to police, just before 7 p.m., officers responded to the area of 3rd Avenue and Indian School Road for a report of a crash involving a pedestrian and multiple cars.
Police say a red Toyota Tundra truck was traveling eastbound on Indian School Road when it struck Gutierrez-Palomo, who was crossing Indian School mid-block.
The impact of the crash pushed Gutierrez-Palomo to an adjacent traffic lane where he was struck by three additional cars.
A white four-door sedan did not stop after hitting Gutierrez-Palomo and fled the scene. That driver remains outstanding at this time.
Fire personnel transported Gutierrez-Palomo to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
