Phoenix police are investigating after a believed home invasion suspect was found shot in the middle of the street early Thursday morning.

According to police, officers arrived on scene near 29th Avenue and Van Buren Street after a report of shots fired and a person down. An unidentified man between 18 and 22 years old was found in the street and later pronounced dead.

While in the area, police received another call from a homeowner who said he just shot someone who broke into his house. Four masked men reportedly broke into the home and there was an exchange of gunfire before the suspects fled.

The homeowner, a 20-year-old man, was arrested and booked on drug charges stemming from the investigation.

Three other suspects are still outstanding.
