PHOENIX — A motorcyclist has died after police say a possible impaired driver crashed into her.

The Phoenix Police Department says it happened around 9:30 p.m. Thursday when 23-year-old Martez Begay was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado pickup.

Investigators say Begay was traveling southbound on 20th Street, just south of Highland Avenue when he entered the left lane preparing to turn into a private drive.

The truck crashed head-on with a Harley Davidson motorcycle, being driven by a 30-year-old woman. She was rushed to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her name hasn’t been released by police.

Begay, nor his passenger, a 37-year-old man, were hurt during the crash.

According to police at the scene, Begay showed signs of impairment.

He was processed, and detectives were able to develop probable cause that he was driving under the influence. He has been booked into the Maricopa County Jail and charged with manslaughter.
