A motorcyclist has died after being struck by a vehicle on Loop 202 Sunday morning.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, an adult male rider lost control of his motorcycle just before 2:30 a.m. and crashed while traveling westbound along Loop 202 within the two-lane transition ramp to westbound Interstate 10.

DPS said the rider, 33-year-old Michael Lassiter of Glendale, was struck by at least one vehicle after he fell onto the roadway during the initial crash.

Lassiter was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to DPS.

Authorities are working to figure out the cause of the collision and whether more than one vehicle struck the motorcycle after the initial crash.

There is no word on possible impairment at this time.

Roadway restrictions in the area are expected to be lifted soon.
