All weekend long, Maricopa County Animal Care and Control will be waiving adoption fees for all animals in their shelters with the exception of puppies and shelter "superheroes."

MCACC spokesman Jose Santiago says they're currently in a "red zone" situation, meaning their facilities are "dangerous levels" when it comes to empty kennels.

Arizona Animal Rescue Mission is adoptions will include license, alteration surgery and vaccinations. Additionally, the LovePup Foundation is making sure all pets are microchipped before heading to their new forever homes.

*Shelter superheroes are dogs chosen by the adoption team which may be considered a high demand dog or even a purebred.
