PHOENIX — A 37-year-old man was hit and killed overnight by a driver who drove onto the sidewalk and fled the scene, Phoenix police say.
The crash occurred near 23rd Avenue and Dunlap around 12:20 a.m. Tuesday.
The victim, Steven J. Hoffman, was reportedly walking east on the south sidewalk in the area when a Ford Expedition headed east drifted onto the sidewalk, hitting him.
Police say the driver of the Expedition failed to stop and continued east before turning south on 19th Avenue.
Hoffman was pronounced dead at the scene.
