Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers and Phoenix police officers shut down at least two lanes after a deadly crash on northbound Interstate 17.

Officials said the incident happened on Interstate 17 near Thomas Road. It occurred just before 2:30 a.m. Monday.

The driver of a disabled vehicle was reportedly hit and killed by a passing vehicle. DPS originally reported that a Good Samaritan who stopped to help the driver was hit and killed, but later corrected the report.

The vehicle that hit the man fled the scene. Officials are now looking for a light-colored, short-bed Chevy truck with custom tail lights.
