PHOENIX — A Valley shelter is asking for help tracking down a suspect who stole a kitten early Tuesday afternoon.

The Arizona Humane Society says a man entered its Sunnyslope campus around 2 p.m. and asked if any kittens were available for adoption.

The man met with 12-week-old Zeus, who had just returned from an appearance on the ABC15 News at 11. Watch video of Zeus' appearance in the player above.

When the adoption counselor stepped away, he put the kitten under his sweatshirt and ran from the facility, according to the humane society. Employees chased him east down Hatcher Road but were unable to catch him.

A surveillance photo released by AHS shows the man inside the facility before he took Zeus.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-6151.
