Maricopa County Animal Care and Control is offering free pet adoptions in memory of one of their longtime kennel workers.

MCACC officials say Bert Martin recently passed away, leaving behind a shelter full of homeless pets and coworkers who loved him. Martin reportedly worked with MCACC for nearly a decade. In his honor, the shelter is waiving adoption fees on all animals on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 18, 19 and 20.

"Our co-worker loved our animals dearly and we know nothing would have made him happier than to see as many animals as possible get homes," Jose Santiago with MCACC said in a press release.

MCACC says while adoptions will be free, licensing fees still apply.
