PHOENIX, AZ — Brittany Zamora, a former teacher in Goodyear, pled guilty to charges of sexual misconduct with one of her students on Monday.

Zamora, who taught sixth-grade at Las Brisas Academy in Goodyear, was facing allegations of nine counts of sexual conduct with a minor, two counts of molestation of a child, and one count of furnishing harmful material to a minor. In April, most of the charges were dismissed due to a grand jury indictment. According to court records, on Monday Zamora pled guilty to sexual misconduct and reduced charges of public indecency and molestation.

The allegations were first reported to the school's principal in March 2018, by the parents of the victim, who found text message conversations between 27-year-old Zamora and her 13-year-old male student.

The conversation indicated sexual activities were happening between the two, on and off campus.

After initially reporting the relationship to the Las Brisas principal, the 13-year-old's father also contacted Buckeye police.

According to police records, another student is believed to have witnessed Zamora having sex with the victim on campus.
