PHOENIX — A 54-year-old man struck by the light rail at 1st Street and Van Buren Street was taken to the hospital before noon Wednesday, authorities said.
The man, whose identity was not immediately available, was trapped under the light rail "for some time," according to fire officials. He was removed from the tracks and transported to a trauma facility for evaluation.
Police said the man stumbled and fell onto the tracks as a train approached. He is expected to survive his injuries.
The light rail was delayed and had some restrictions while police investigated, but all platforms and tracks were back open around 2:30 p.m.
