PHOENIX — A driver has died after the Arizona Department of Public Safety says the person failed to yield during an attempted traffic stop.
DPS says the incident happened on Friday around 7:15 a.m. A trooper attempted to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation on 7th Avenue just south of the I-17.
The driver allegedly failed to stop and fled southbound on 7th Ave at a high rate of speed.
DPS says the driver left the roadway near the Rio Salado Park and collided with a maintenance structure.
The vehicle caught fire and the driver didn’t survive.
The suspect’s name and age have not been released.
