Hiker critical after falling as far as 100 feet at Echo Canyon

PHOENIX - Phoenix firefighters have rescued a hiker who fell roughly 100 feet from Camelback Mountain.

Fire spokeswoman Reda Bigler says the woman was rushed to a hospital Wednesday in critical condition.

Crews initially planned to hoist her off the mountain but carried her out on foot instead.

Officials did not release her identity but Bigler says she is in her 20s.

She was unconscious but breathing when firefighters found her.

They did not say what caused her to fall.
