A young child who became critically injured after being dropped by a parent has died, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
Investigators said that the child, whose name and age were not released, passed away Saturday morning at the hospital.
The child’s father told officers that he suffered a medical episode while picking up the child, causing him to fall and take the child down with him. The incident occurred Thursday at the family’s home near 44th Street and Baseline Road.
It is unclear what sort of medical episode the father said he suffered at the time of the fall. No charges have been filed.
The medical examiner has not released an official cause of death.
