Once known as America's Toughest Sheriff, Joe Arpaio is making a run at filling the Senate seat vacated by Jeff Flake.

The Republican candidate got into the race late, but tells ABC15 Arizona he hopes voters value his tough stance on illegal immigration -- which he openly admits he's been in trouble for -- and his time leading the DEA.

Arpaio also says the only reason he's in this race is to help President Donald Trump get things done in Washington.

He believes his relationship with the President will be a bonus for the state of Arizona and the issues that matter to the people who live here.
