PHOENIX — Phoenix police are searching for two burglars who broke into a Phoenix diner and stole a safe filled with thousands of dollars on Christmas morning.

"We feel violated, essentially," said Ryan Ladden, general manager of the 5 & Diner restaurant near 16th and Colter streets.

The restaurant's security system captured video of the pair, both appearing to be men. One of the burglars covered their head with a hoodie while the other's face is visible on the video. He also concealed a crow bar in the arm of his sweater, which is what Ladden believes the burglars used to pry open a gate and break through the back door.

The diner is normally open 24-hours a day, with Christmas being the exception.

"We close one day a year so that all of our staff has the opportunity to celebrate Christmas with their families," Ladden said. "For someone to take advantage of that... it's really disheartening."

Anyone with information on this case is being urged to call the Phoenix Police Department.
