AHWATUKEE, AZ — Police say a pedestrian was killed after they were struck by a motorcycle in Ahwatukee Monday night.
The incident happened near 40th Street and Chandler Boulevard around 8:30 p.m. Police say a 32-year-old motorcyclist was headed northbound when he struck Jan Hong, a woman in her sixties, as she was crossing the roadway.
Police say Hong was pronounced dead at the scene. The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
The intersection of Mountain Parkway and Mountain Sky Avenue was closed during the police investigation.
Impairment does not appear to have been a factor in the crash, but the investigation is ongoing.
