If you live in Ahwatukee, three new restaurants are coming to the area this year.

The Living Room Wine Cafe & Lounge, Noodles & Company and Modern Market -- a first for Arizona -- have all signed on to open at the Ahwatukee Foothills Towne Center near 48th Street and Ray Road.

A company spokesperson said The Living Room is expected to open in early June. This will be the restaurant's fourth Valley location. It will feature its signature open-air loft-style design and a 1,200-square-feet two-sided patio.

It will be located next to Fired Pie near the AMC movie theatre.

A spokesperson said a fifth location will open in the fall at The SHOPS at Gainey Village off Scottsdale Road near Doubletree Ranch Road.

Modern Market, a farm-to-table eatery focused on "gourmet, scratch-made goodness", is expected to open its first Arizona location at the end of the year barring any construction delays.

The Boulder, Colorado-based restaurant was created in 2009 by two guys with reportedly zero restaurant experience. In fact, one was in engineer and the other worked in finance.

The owners, Anthony and Rob (pictured right), wanted to serve healthy food at a fair price. The restaurant felt Ahwatukee residents "share our interest in eating and living healthy."

Noodles & Company plans on opening its 2,500-square-foot location in the fall. This will be the company's third location in the Phoenix metro area.

Both Modern Market and Noodles & Company will be located where Mimi's Cafe once stood, according to an online leasing map.

A spokesperson for DDR Corp., the company that manages the property, declined to comment specifically on when construction would begin, but did confirm all three restaurants had signed leases with them.

According to the map, Mimi's Cafe, whose building has been closed and vacant for more than a year, will be developed into retail space. Modern Market and Noodles & Company will occupy two of the spaces, with an additional 8,500-square-feet reserved for "proposed retail space."

Last week, construction fencing was placed around Mimi's Cafe and the adjacent parking lot.

A new business is also opening at the Towne Center. Aqua Tots, a swimming school, will open its doors in April or May. It will be located next to Michael's.
