PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ — The Prescott Valley Police Department will be instituting a pre-holiday speed control initiative along SR-69.

The PVPD will issue traffic citations to drivers going over 69 miles per hour on Monday, December 23 between the hours of 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.

PVPD is partnering with the Chino Valley Police Department, the Prescott Police Department and the Department of Public Safety for the speed control.

With a financial grant from the Arizona Governor's Office of Highway Safety, they will institute extra patrol.

The enforcement was created to help drivers remain safe during the increased traffic in the holiday season.

"Unfortunately, the day before Thanksgiving, a serious five vehicle accident occurred in our Town and we don't want a repeat of this kind of driving," The Prescott Valley Police Department said.

If you see any erratic driving, immediately contact your local law enforcement agency.
Prescott Valley Police Department can be contacted at (928) 772-9267 for non-emergencies, 911 for emergencies. You may also contact Yavapai Silent Witness at 1-800-932-3232.
