Nearly a dozen people are hospitalized in connection to two separate accidents on Interstate 17 near Black Canyon City on Sunday afternoon.
Authorities received reports around 5:45 p.m. about a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle just one mile north of Black Canyon City.
According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, traffic was backed up for five miles just north of Black Canyon City as of 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Just minutes after the first crash, a second crash occurred involving multiple vehicles, DPS said. A pickup truck, a tour bus and a semi-truck collided in the same area.
There were 31 people on the bus, officials said.
Between both accidents, 11 people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

All lanes have since reopened. The interstate was closed for five hours.
