LAKE HAVASU CITY, AZ — Authorities say a California man was arrested over the weekend for operating a boat on the Colorado River while intoxicated.

Mohave County deputies were patrolling near Thomson Bay in Lake Havasu City around 4 p.m. on Saturday when they saw a boat making a large wake in a posted no wake zone.

The deputies say the operator, identified as 30-year-old Daniel Wiest, of Murrieta, California, showed signs and symptoms of impairment. After being taken ashore, officials say his blood-alcohol content was 0.136.

There were two children on board, ages 1 and 4, the sheriff's office said in a news release.

Wiest was arrested and booked into the Mohave County jail.
