Officials say a 29-year-old man died after a boating accident on Lake Havasu on Saturday afternoon.
Steven Cornejo, a South Gate resident, reportedly jumped into the water near Red Rock Cove after his hat blew into the water. Cornejo was on a rented pontoon boat with friends at the time.
Officials say wind pushed the boat out of Cornejo's reach and he wasn't able to stay above the surface of the water, even as friends attempted to save him.
Rescue dive teams showed up to locate the victim, but the search was called off on Saturday night.
Cornejo's body was found by sonar equipment about 50 feet under water on Sunday evening.
