A 58-year-old Kingman man has been arrested for allegedly shoving two deputies from the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.

Mallam John Prior faces felony charges of aggravated assault on a police officer in connection with the crime.

Deputies say on Monday night they responded to a report of a domestic violence incident in Kingman near Bank Street and Northern Avenue.

As deputies arrived, the victim said that Prior was not giving her her cell phone so she could leave home.

Deputies came into contact with Prior and said he refused to cooperate by providing his identification and sitting down.

Prior was reportedly asked to sit down numerous times but he continued to refuse.

As deputies tried to detain Prior, he allegedly became combative and shoved backward, causing himself and both deputies to be pushed.

Deputies restrained Prior while he reportedly continued to resist.

He was booked into the Mohave County Jail on two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer and disorderly conduct.
