FLAGSTAFF, AZ — A man has been arrested after police say an argument led to a deadly stabbing in Flagstaff on Friday afternoon.

According to Flagstaff police, officers responded to reports of a stabbing in a wooded area north of Route 66 near Lockett Road around 3 p.m.

Officers arrived and found a victim with multiple stab wounds. Personnel from the Sacred Peaks Health Center provided medical assistance until emergency responders arrived to treat the victim. However, police say the victim died at the scene.

Investigators spoke to witnesses in the area who reported seeing the victim and 27-year-old Phelan Connally engaged in an argument in the wooded area. As the argument escalated, Connally reportedly stabbed the victim multiple times, police say.

Connally remained on scene and was taken into custody.

The victim was identified Monday as 39-year-old Jason Hart, of Coweta, Oklahoma.

Connally has been charged with second-degree murder and a judge set his bond at $100,000.
