A fire that started Sunday morning and grew to 30 acres in Flagstaff has been contained, and its cause is being investigated.

According to the Flagstaff Fire Department, crews were alerted to a fire near Fisher Point. Upon arrival, crews found a 5 to 10 acre fire that was burning at what officials say was a moderate rate of speed due to wind conditions in the area.

The Abbey Fire was eventually contained once it reached 30 acres. However, there were multiple spot fires that emerged but those were extinguished by firefighters.

Officials say the fire is under control, the cause is unknown, and the fire will be fully extinguished within the next couple of days. Smoke will be visible in the area.

Fire officials say no injuries to crew members were sustained, and structures were also not threatened.

The Flagstaff Fire Department reminds campers and visitors that it is illegal to have an open campfire within city limits.
