There's a secret behind the calm demeanor of Arizona Cardinals Head Coach Bruce Arians.
The coach relaxes his stress away in a sensory stimulation pod one hour a week, with no interruptions according to his wife Chris.
It looks like a small enclosed bed designed with a rich wood exterior. The chamber has tranquilizing lights to help you relax or feel stimulated. Music plays, with a voice track delivering messages that inspire or calm, and a light vibration helps you drift off for an hour.
The idea behind the pod is guided meditation and helps you ease stress, feel stronger emotionally and improve focus.
Chris Arians discovered sensory stimulation pod when they were living in Pittsburgh.
Paired with her business partner, Barbara Saint John, the two brought one of the machines here. It's called "The Zone", and it's located in the Lux Offices on Scottsdale Road. They are targeting athletes, professionals in high-stress positions, and anyone else who needs help relaxing.
Prices are $125 for one-hour, $299 for three sessions, or $599 for seven sessions. It's not cheap, but profits will go to the Arians Family Foundation, which helps children in foster care.
Arians swears it works for her husband.
Let's just hope he had time for one more session before Sunday's game...
