SCOTTSDALE, AZ — Authorities say one person has died after a crash near 74th Street and Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard.

Officers responded to an intersection at the Scottsdale Promenade around 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police say a vehicle going east on Frank Lloyd Wright collided with the side of a vehicle going north on Promenade in the process of making a left turn onto westbound Frank Lloyd Wright.

The driver of the second vehicle, later identified as 79-year-old Peter Johnson, was taken to the hospital where he later died, police said.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle remained on scene and was not injured, according to the Scottsdale Police Department.

On Sunday, police said investigators determined that the driver of the first vehicle had ran the red light for eastbound traffic, causing the collision.

The investigation is ongoing.
