Scottsdale police say a woman's stabbing of her boyfriend in the arm appears to be a case of self-defense.
Officer Kevin Watts says initial information indicates that the woman used the knife to defend herself early Wednesday morning during one of several times during an overnight domestic altercation when he attempted to strangle her.
Watts says the man fled the apartment after being stabbed and is hospitalized in serious condition.
According to Watts, the man is regarded as the suspect in the case and the woman as a victim of domestic violence.
Names haven't been released.
The incident occurred in an apartment near McDowell Road and the Loop 101 freeway.
