SCOTTSDALE, AZ — Police have identified a 65-year-old man who died Monday evening while hiking a trail in north Scottsdale.
According to Scottsdale fire officials, multiple agencies responded around 6 p.m. to reports of a hiker down on the Sunrise Trail near 136th Street and Via Linda.
Other hikers reportedly found Stephen Butcher about a half-mile up the trailhead and began CPR. Once Scottsdale fire crews arrived, they continued life-saving measures, but Butcher died on scene.
Scottsdale police Sgt. Ben Hoster said Butcher passed away from a "medical-related event."
