Authorities say former NBA guard Rex Chapman likely will be sentenced to probation in a shoplifting case in Scottsdale.

Chapman was arrested last Sept. 19 for allegedly shoplifting more than $15,000 worth of merchandise from an Apple store in Scottsdale and then selling the items at a pawn shop.

Prosecutors say Chapman pleaded guilty last week to four felony theft charges, which could be reduced to misdemeanors at his Sept. 25 sentencing hearing.

The 47-year-old Chapman has agreed to pay full restitution and serve 750 hours of community service.

Scottsdale police say Chapman stole from the store nine times over a three-month span.

The former Kentucky star was a first-round draft pick of Charlotte in 1988 and also played for Washington, Miami and Phoenix in a 12-year NBA career that ended in 2000.
