The Scottsdale Fire Department is investigating an accident near Loop 101 and Scottsdale Road.
According to a Department of Public Safety spokesperson, a serious crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
DPS told ABC15 two cars collided in the northbound lanes. The first car collided with the rear of the second car, and the second car then caught on fire. The driver of the second car was killed. The driver of the first vehicle was taken to a hospital in serious condition.
An investigation is ongoing.
