Dolphin at Scottsdale dolphinarium dies from 'rare muscle disease'

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - A dolphin at a Scottsdale dolphinarium passed away late last month.

A Dolphinaris spokesperson confirmed Thursday that Bodie died Sept. 23 after experiencing a “rare muscle disease” while living in the open-air pools at the facility off of Loop 101 and Via de Ventura.

The veterinary team consulted experts but were unsuccessful in finding a cure, a spokesperson said.

After Bodie died, a necropsy was performed and it was revealed that the same outcome was inevitable.

The dolphinarium said they’re “deeply saddened” by the dolphin’s death but will continue to educate, inspire and empower people through interactions with the animals.
