A hiker was found dead on Camelback Mountain on Friday, officials said.
The man, later identified as 54-year-old Marc Daus, began hiking the Echo Canyon Trail on Thursday, according to Phoenix Fire officials and had not been heard from since.
The Phoenix Fire Department's rescue teams were called to assist the Phoenix Police Department on Friday and spent the day searching the mountain for the man, who was last heard from around noon the day before.
His body was found on the south side of the mountain around 5 p.m., according to a Phoenix Fire Department spokesman.
The 54-year-old man was visiting from out of town and started hiking around 10 a.m. Thursday. He appeared to have fallen a significant distance, firefighters said.
Crews used a helicopter to recover the body, which was taken to the medical examiner's office. His name has not been released.
