YUMA, AZ — Authorities have identified a former Yuma Police Department officer under investigation for sexual conduct with a minor.

Yuma police say Bobby Garcia is under investigation after the department received a complaint that Garcia may have made sexual offenses toward a minor between 2017 and 2018.

At the time of the incident, Garcia was assigned as a School Resource Officer, but not assigned to a particular school. Garcia's duties were to assist schools that did not have an SRO assigned to them.

After the allegations surfaced, Garcia was placed on administrative leave in May of 2019. Garcia resigned as a police officer a month later.

Police say this is an open and active criminal investigation, but no criminal charges have been filed against Garcia at this time. No other victims have been reported.

The Yuma Police Department asks that anybody with information about this case to call the Yuma Police Department Professional Standards Unit at (928) 373-4763.
