Tucson police to get new bulletproof vests

Posted

Three dozen Tucson police officers will have new bullet-proof vests thanks to a donation from the Tucson Police Foundation.

The vests will go to patrol officers whose current vests are older than five years. The warranties expire on ballistic vests after five years.

The Tucson Police Foundation raised money over the summer to cover the cost. The organization is an independent non-profit that first started funding replacement vests in 2011.

The foundation has provided over 400 patrol officers with new vests.
