PHOENIX — Residents will continue to see more COVID-safe outdoor dining setups across Arizona, thanks to an Executive Order helping restaurants survive the coronavirus pandemic.

On January 5, Governor Doug Ducey announced an additional $2 million to help dining establishments expand, protect patrons and staff, and limit the spread of COVID-19.

In addition to getting more funding for restaurants, in December of last year, Governor Ducey issued an Executive Order easing red tape on outdoor dining, helping restaurants expand seating outdoors temporarily.

ABC15 talked with Bobby Aragon who owns Amazing Jumps Tents and Events.

Aragon's company is teaming up with the Arizona Restaurant Association to help respond to the growing need for more outdoor dining space.

"Everybody is trying to find a way to provide fine dining in an outside-the-box way," Aragon says. "Some are putting in nice fancy lighting. Some are putting outdoor carpet down, just to try and outdo each other."

It is friendly competition that Bobby Aragon says is good for business and good for Arizona.
