There will be closures on three major freeways this weekend (April 17-20), and others will have restrictions in place, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

- Southbound Interstate 17 closed between Dunlap Avenue and 19th Avenue (southwest of downtown) from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Saturday (April 18) for asphalt sealing to refresh pavement. Both I-10 ramps to southbound I-17 at the “Stack” interchange closed. DETOUR: Consider alternate routes including eastbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) to southbound SR 51 to reach I-10 near downtown. Note: Crews will reopen sections of southbound I-17 as the work progresses Saturday from 19th Avenue north toward Dunlap Avenue.
- Northbound Interstate 17 closed between 19th Avenue and Peoria Avenue from 11:30 p.m. Saturday to 5 p.m. Sunday (April 19) for asphalt sealing. Both I-10 ramps to northbound I-17 at the “Stack” interchange closed. DETOUR: Consider alternate routes include northbound Loop 101 (in East Valley or West Valley). Drivers also can consider using northbound SR 51 to destinations in north Phoenix. Note: Crews will reopen sections of northbound I-17 as the work progresses Sunday from Peoria Avenue south toward 19th Avenue.
- Northbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) closed between Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) and Elliot Road from 4 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday (April 18) for widening project. DETOUR: Traffic can detour along northbound Price frontage road. Alternate routes include northbound Dobson Road or McClintock Drive.
- Southbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) closed near Ray Road from 4 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday (April 19) for message sign work. DETOUR: Traffic can detour along off- and on-ramps at Ray Road. Alternate routes include southbound McClintock Drive or Dobson Road.
- Loop 303 closed in both directions between Interstate 17 and Lake Pleasant Parkway from 3 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (April 18-19) for APS powerline project. DETOUR: Alternate routes include SR 74 and Lake Pleasant Parkway.
- Eastbound Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway) narrowed to one lane in areas between Estrella Drive and 17th Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (April 20) for rubberized asphalt paving. Plan for on- and off-ramp closures in the area. DETOUR: Allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes including I-10. Please note: Lane restrictions are now in place in this area while traffic is lighter than normal and are scheduled to continue next week in areas east toward 40th Street.
- Interstate 10 narrowed to three lanes in both directions between Avondale Boulevard and Dysart Road from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Sunday (April 19) for paving. On- or off-ramps at Avondale Boulevard and Dysart Road closed at times. DETOUR: Traffic will detour to other area ramps.
- Westbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) narrowed to two left lanes between State Route 51 interchange and Cave Creek Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (April 20) for widening project. Northbound SR 51 ramp to westbound Loop 101 closed. DETOUR: Alternate routes while ramp is closed include exiting northbound SR 51 to northbound Black Mountain Boulevard and using westbound Deer Valley Road to southbound Cave Creek Road. Note: Hayden Road closed in both directions at Loop 101 from 9 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday (April 20). Alternate routes include Scottsdale Road. Eastbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Seventh Street to close until mid-June starting at 8 p.m. Sunday (April 19).
- Interstate 17 narrowed overnight to one or two lanes in either direction near Happy Valley Road from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday, Sunday and Monday nights (April 17, 19 and 20) for interchange reconstruction project. DETOUR: Allow extra travel time and use caution in work zones.
- Loop 101 (Price Freeway) narrowed overnight to two or three lanes in either direction in areas between McDowell Road and Southern Avenue from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday and Monday nights (April 19-20) for Valley Metro project. Plan for on- and off-ramp restrictions in the area. DETOUR: Allow extra travel time and use caution in work zones.
