Memphis police say a man has been charged after a woman was injured when she allegedly was pushed off a seventh-story apartment balcony.

The Commercial Appeal reports the incident occurred near the University of Memphis Park Avenue campus.

According to an arrest affidavit, the woman told police she was visiting the home of a man who wanted to have sex with her. When she refused, he allegedly pushed her off the balcony.

Police said the woman sustained a back injury.

The man, 62-year-old Washington Norment, was charged Friday with aggravated assault. He remained held Sunday on $40,000 bond in the Shelby County Jail pending a court hearing Monday. Jail records didn't indicate whether he has an attorney who can comment on the allegations.
