NOW HIRING: Companies hiring for seasonal positions

'Tis the season to be a seasonal worker. Companies from UPS to Kohl's are all hosting big job fairs to try to fill thousands of positions before the holidays.

But, the huge need is forcing many companies to give you the greatest gift of all: a job with higher pay and hotter incentives!

Experts said the economy is making many of us feel a little bit more confident with our spending. With spending, comes bigger business this time of year.

Plus, the job market has been doing very well.

Last month's national unemployment numbers from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics saw a nearly 4-percent drop, which is our lowest point since 1969.

"I think the current workforce pressures; the unemployment numbers...are reasons why you're going to see a heightened approach to incentives," said Rob Stenson with Phoenix's Business and Workforce Development Center. "This is a great opportunity for a job-seeker to get additionally discounted or bonuses."

For example, Gap is offering 50 percent off of merchandise for seasonal employees.

JCPenney is offering 25 percent off merchandise, as well. But, they are also adding in random bonuses, like paid vacations for lucky employees.

At Target, employees can start off making $12 an hour with a 20-percent discount on merchandise. They also plan on setting aside $2 million in rewards.

ABC15 asked Stenson about why the power has shifted so much toward the job-seeker. He said it has been happening slowly, but surely.

"I think we're always - every year - seeing a little bit more pressure to be able to attract job seekers to positions, particularly during positive economic times," Stenson explained. "Individuals have had the opportunity to get jobs that are higher paying."
