PHOENIX — A 33-year-old man has been arrested after he allegedly shot at an Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper who was conducting a traffic stop early Friday morning.
Officers responded to assist a DPS trooper who had reported being shot at in the area of 27th Avenue and McDowell Road just before 12:30 a.m., Phoenix police said.
The DPS trooper said he was conducting a traffic stop with a 49-year-old man when a suspect, identified as 33-year-old Victor Manuel Zuniga, who was not involved in the traffic stop, fired at him from across the street.
Police said additional officers arrived at the scene and arrested the man who fired at the trooper.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
