PHOENIX, AZ — Privacy Rights Clearinghouse keeps up on data breaches around the country, including smaller ones you've never heard about.
In 2019 nearly 20,000 people in Arizona had their healthcare records exposed, according to the Clearinghouse.
Disclosures by AHCCCS, a skin care facility and a plastic surgery center, show that they were either targeted by hackers or lost sensitive paperwork.
Emails and passwords are treated a little differently. They are bought and sold on the dark net every day. Yours may be one of them.
Haveibeenpwned.com keeps track of which hacked emails were included in and what passwords are available for sale.
My email showed up several times. My producer's came up in five hacks and her password has been seen 917 times.
The website allows you to register your email to be notified if it shows up in future breaches.
If you're on the pawned list, change your password now. Otherwise, experts say to switch out passwords once or twice per year.
