Free money offers usually scream "scam!" But this time, it's legit, and you could have money waiting right now to claim.
It's the Arizona Department of Revenue's Unclaimed property program.
Forgotten safe deposit box belongings, old checks and bank accounts are eventually turned over to the state, and the proceeds held for owners to claim.
The department's Ed Greenberg says stay away from businesses offering to help you find out if you're on the list - they charge a fee.
But the process is free through the state's unclaimed property site.

The Department of Revenue gave us the names of eight Arizonans who DO have unclaimed property waiting.

- Scotty Landrum: Phoenix
- Duan L. Campbell: Phoenix
- Florence M. Eicher: Mesa
- Nayil Al-Harithy: Tempe
- Betty J. or William Putnam: Mesa
- Carol Ann or Roger D. Beck: Scottsdale
- Leo J. Schilling: Phoenix
If they have passed away, family members can go through the verification process and make a claim.
