PHOENIX — The Phoenix Union High School District has partnered with an organization to help give students experience with small and big businesses in our community.

The goal is for students to help businesses find solutions to real-world challenges they're facing.

About 250 students, between Cesar Chavez High School and Alhambra High School, are enrolled in the first group. For weeks, they work with different businesses on what’s called ‘case partner projects’.

Through this, they work with those companies to figure out solutions to problems the businesses are facing. Most recently, they’ve worked with Arby’s and Cox Communications.

This specific program has helped reduce absenteeism rates and increase participation and graduation rates in other schools across the country. This is the first year the program, called 3DE, has come to Arizona.

Elenee Dao is speaking with students, teachers and the Junior Achievement organization about the skills kids are gaining through this. Watch the video in the player above.
