TEMPE, AZ — A second suspect has been arrested in the December shooting death of 22-year-old Wanyaa Stewart, the brother of Arizona State University basketball star Zylan Cheatham.

Tempe police identified 25-year-old Dantreil Griffin as the shooter and arrested him on February 1,

Police said on Dec. 20, 2018, Griffin shot and killed Stewart at a Mobil gas station near Mill Avenue and Baseline Road. Stewart was trying to fill up a tire on his vehicle at the time.

Police believe Griffin and Stewart had previous conflicts before the shooting.

Police say Griffin was with 25-year-old Cory Winston in Wintson's car at the time of the shooting.

Police believe Griffin and Winston are associated with a rival gang of the victim, who was a documented gang member, according to police.

Police located and arrested Winston on Thursday.

Winston is being held without bond for weapons violations, assisting in a street gang and first-degree murder.
