A man police say is responsible for burglarizing five victims at four Scottsdale gyms was caught by Salt River Police after shoplifting at a Wal-Mart.

Scottsdale Police report that on January 20, Dillon James Gibson,31, took gym bags and backpacks from five victims at four gyms in Scottsdale.

Police say he took athletic shoes, credit cards, keys and other items totaling about $1,000 from the victims.

Using the victims’ credit cards, he went to Best Buy to purchase a Mac Book Pro, and then later went to the Walmart near Pima and Chaparral Roads. At Walmart, he attempted to use another victim's credit card to purchase an item worth about $3,000, but when the card was declined, he took it and left the store.

Salt River Police caught Gibson in his car. Police say they found the backpacks and gym bags belonging to five victims in his vehicle.

Gibson, who told police that he is a solar engineer for Department of Energy, has been charged with multiple crimes including identity theft, credit card theft, and burglary.
