A Tempe man is accused of stealing from eight target stores in multiple Valley cities.

Christopher Nicholas Bauer, 25, was arrested on March 8 near Elm Street and Apache Boulevard. According to police, Bauer allegedly stole thermostats, security cameras and speakers — all ranging between $130-$250.

According to authorities, Bauer allegedly took the items and later returned the them for gift cards which he would later sell for cash.

Bauer allegedly also stole a bicycle because he "needed a bike to get around in."

When police arrested him, he was riding the stolen bike and was in possession of a messenger bag containing pliers and cutting tools. Police said Bauer was seen carrying the same bag in store surveillance video.

Police report that they also found two fake identification cards at his home.

Bauer has been charged with theft, forgery, and trafficking in stolen property.
