An 18-year-old who was arrested in Mesa after a burglary is now linked to eight other burglaries since September of 2016.

Mesa police report that on February 3, they were called to a home near Stapley and University drives for a burglary.

The resident reported to police that someone broke a bedroom window and stole a loaded shotgun, money, and jewelry. A police helicopter spotted the suspect who reportedly saw the helicopter and started to bury the shotgun under a bush.

He then ran and started jumping over backyard fences until he was caught a few houses away.

The suspect, 18-year-old Gibran Aguilar-Salas, reportedly gave police detailed information regarding the items he allegedly stole from eight other homes along Broadway Road in Mesa.

In each burglary, Salas allegedly broke a window to enter the home and stole various items. Many of the stolen items were found in his home.

Salas has been charged with nine counts of burglary.
