A man who is accused of intentionally ramming his car into another attempted to flee the scene before giving up and waiting for police officers to arrive and arrest him.

Phoenix Police report that on Aug. 29 a man, later identified as 37-year-old Brent Andrew Laird, allegedly used his Dodge Ram truck to ram a Mazda car near 19th Avenue and Greenway Parkway.

Police say the back end of the Mazda "was completely crushed in." The victim continued following the truck after the collision as Laird continued driving away in an evasive manner.

Police say after a few moments Laird pulled over, parked his truck and gave up. He then sat on the curb until police arrived.

Laird reportedly told police that he "snapped" after believing the victim threw something at his truck as he was driving next to him.

Laird has been charged with aggravated assault.
