A Surprise man was caught shoplifting nearly $600 in baby formula from two Surprise grocery stores.
Surprise Police report that on March 14, Clay Alfafara, age 22, reportedly shoplifted several cans of Similac baby formula from the Safeway store near Litchfield and Bullard Roads.
Police located Alfafara about a mile away. When they contacted him, they noticed more cans of baby formula in Fry's bags in his car. Police then contacted Fry's to see if they had shoplifted as well.
Fry's allegedly responded by saying they lost 12 cans. Alfafara initially denied taking the items from Fry's but later reportedly told police that after taking the cans from Safeway, he went across the street and also took cans of formula from Fry's.
Alfafara is already on probation n for other crimes, and police say, "Alfafara has been arrested for shoplifting multiple times in the last three years."
