A man who police call a leader of a Phoenix-based drug distribution cell has been arrested.
Police report that the distribution ring was selling kilos of cocaine and pounds of meth every week in the Phoenix area.
They received information saying the leader, 31-year-old Martin Ayala-Lopez was going to be delivering drugs to a customer on June 27. Police watched as he left his 'stash house' near 75th Avenue and Camelback Road. Lopez was taken into custody nearby.
Police say they found six kilograms of cocaine in his possession and another five pounds of meth in the stash house. Police estimate the value of the cocaine at $150,000 and $12,500 for the meth.
Police say Lopez is in the country illegally and has been previously arrested for selling drugs. He has been charged with conspiracy and drug possession.
